Dr. Catharino is investigating the process of structural destabilization and the generation of new prion strains, as well as studying the effects of familial mutations on the stability and folding of PrPSc. For both projects, she will be using mouse bioassays in conjunction with biophysical methods to understand the conformational plasticity of PrP.
